NARRENSCHIFF is an RPGmaker narrative game with light puzzles and mild horror content.
+The English version of the game is only downloadable, not play in browser.
+You can also download a walkthrough if you encounter trouble solving the puzzles.
+Game play will be about 1.5-2 hours long.

I had an amazing experience playing this game! It made me to experience many emotions, from being scared, and curious to feeling sorry for the character and feeling his pain to wanting to cry. I was looking through games to download on here this past week and the green colour of the title screen was the thing that got my attention, mostly. I assumed it was a cheap, gory horror game at first but I was very, very wrong. its a surreal experience. The horror of growing a literal, breathing, moving thing inside of you out of your will, struggling to take care of said child, the whole meat processing factory scene, the desire to be unbirthed, the mother's mental illness etc. are very well portrayed. The things being told from the child's perspective are also very thought inducing.
the puzzles also made me feel smart lmao. the only part ı struggled with were the damn portraits in the museum. but other than that, the museum puzzles were brilliant! i am looking forward to the next acts of this game.
i say this as a true rpgmaker veteran, i've played everything, you name it i've played it- this is literally the best rpgmaker game i've ever played. your art direction is so strong, your inclusion of public pieces was genius, i shouted when i saw 'my eyes at the moment of the apparitions', the scene setting up with gazing, the background of the real life piece tying into Anna's mental illness, the unsettling way that the eyes are revealed, the way the piece just meshes so perfectly with your artstyle,,,
like seriously every aspect of this game is the all the finest work i've seen from the medium. as i previously mentioned, the art, the sound effects/music, puzzle design, atmosphere. even in the things i love, games or other pieces of art, there is one facet of the art that may fall a little short or fall into the background, but no, every part of this was absolutely perfect. like, if i played a different game that used this art but the puzzle design was shit, i would still love it because your art was so good, or if a different game used this puzzle design and the art was shit i would still love it because your puzzle design was so good, does that make sense? and not to mention, your perfect art and perfect puzzle design could've been both been out the window (though they are obviously both integral to this Thing that you are accomplishing) I still would've played because this story you are putting together is so immaculate, so riveting
i can't believe you put this together in six months, i could easily see this being workshopped for six years. i've followed you on twitter for a while now with this game in my 'play later' bucket as i worked on school, but now I will be dutifully awaiting your every tweet for updates on this game. i would do your laundry and your dishes for free so you could focus on development.

i made an account so i could answer this, so i hope this helps, but if you download "NARRENSCHIFF (中文\ENG\한국어).zip" then go to the game options, you will be able to change the language to english!

I hesitate to comment given this is a beginning portion of what is to be a longer story, but I do enjoy what I am seeing right now. Interesting turn of genres and some beautiful, visceral moments.
I didn't realize this was demo so I thought this was going to be just the 2 hour game play - I am pleasantly surprised that we will be having more.
Will we be seeing more horror amplified in the coming portions or will it be the atmospheric gentle uncanny we have now? How much of Wayde's past will we get to unveil? While I have my curiosities, some of the most powerful scenes in the game come from evocation through gameplay interaction. (the butcher work, the museum)- so I am torn.
But given what we have, I am sure the developer will give us great things to chew on in coming months.
